About
Who am I

Here I am (to the left) with my EPF Level 1 Referee Certificate.

Refereeing At the European Pickleball Championship 2024.
My name is Ewa, and I am a Level 2 Referee with the European Pickleball Federation. Last year, I had the honor of refereeing at
- the English Open 2024, the third-largest pickleball tournament in the world and the largest outside of the USA,
- the English Nationals, and
- at the first ever European Pickleball Championship.
I am also an avid pickleball player and absolutely love the game.
I live in the UK, but I am originally from Poland. When I’m not refereeing or playing pickleball, I work as a transportation engineer, collaborating with architects and engineers to assist in the design of railway stations, metro stations, airports, and other transportation hubs from all over the world.
How did I get into pickleball?
It happened just after the pandemic. I had moved to a new place, a new town, in a new region, without established friends or family nearby. As a badminton and table tennis player, I tried finding a local club for either sport but had no luck. Then, my neighbour kept mentioning this odd game—pickleball. It took me a while, but eventually, I decided to try it using a free tester session voucher.
I instantly fell in love with the game.
Like badminton and table tennis, pickleball can be a very social sport. The court is small, which makes it easy to meet new friends, have a laugh, and enjoy the game without everyone taking themselves too seriously. It's also a relatively affordable sport to play.
Has your journey into pickleball been similar? I’d love to hear about it! Feel free to reach out.
